ATNI is hiring contract and contract-to-hire Level IV technicians across the United States.  The following is the job description for this position. 

Technician Level IV 

Job Description

  

This position is primarily responsible for supervising installation and de-installation projects for ATNI customers nationwide.  This person will be involved in the installation, de-installation, maintenance and project support for voice, data and telecommunications transport networks.  The individual should have a working knowledge and experience in Telcordia GR1275 and Telcordia GR1502 installation standards and procedures.  This person is also available for projects or tasks outside of installation and de-installation projects pertaining to ATNI business such as, but not limited to, inventory, equipment testing, site evaluation, new customer relations, warehouse labor, training and equipment transport.  This position reports to the Project Manager. 

 

Job Experience and Education

 

Employment depends on successfully passing requirements for random drug testing and security background checks. Experience must ensure the following: an understanding of the various topologies, e.g. telecommunications, wireless, data and voice networks and how they interface with each other; an ability to logically troubleshoot and repair hardware and software associated with voice systems, data networks, telecommunications systems and ancillary equipment; a knowledge of voice and data wireless systems and troubleshooting techniques; and a knowledge of data communications and switch networks.

This person must have the ability to provide good customer service, work independently, have good time management skills, and have good verbal and written communications skills. They must have the ability to operate with minimal supervision, seek opportunities to learn and transfer knowledge to others. They must provide after hours or on-call support as needed. 

 

Other Requirements

 

This person must possess a valid driver’s license. They must also be able to walk, crawl, kneel, stoop, climb ladders, read technical drawings, lift, carry, and pull heavy objects, use hand tools, use various types of telecommunication instrumentation devices, work in extreme weather conditions, work in dirty locations, and work in enclosed areas. 

This position is responsible for performing installations and de-installation procedures for all ATNI business customers. 

 
Responsibilities:  

 

  • Manage a crew of technicians, delegating project responsibilities, timelines, safety procedures
  • Identify, document, and escalate recurring problems relating to project installation or de-installation procedures.
  • Perform site visits, site walkthroughs, MOP sign-off responsibilities
  • Maintain proper location and schedule status communication to Project Manager
  • Complete daily status reports during a project timely and accurately.
  • Complete all customer related paperwork, including walkthrough and site visits timely and accurately.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines at all times throughout project duration.
  • Participate in additional field related projects and tasks as assigned. 

 
 Required Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Presentable to customers and able to represent the company in public.
  • Knowledge of wiring, power, and telecommunication services and equipment. 
  • Knowledge of installation tools and safety.
  • Ability to work independently and use good judgment.
  • Basic computer skills for troubleshooting and verifying connections.
  • Able to work in live central offices, outside plant locations, on ladders, and roofs.
  • Punctual, regular and consistent attendance. Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Clean criminal and driving record.
  • 10 years working within the Telecommunications industry performing installations and repairs.  

 Training: 

  • This person will be required to attend various training classes pertaining to telecommunication equipment and installation standards and procedures.
  • This person will not use the knowledge or training skills acquired during ATNI employment to perform projects or jobs outside of ATNI business.
