Client A – Removing, Sorting, Auditing, and Selling Telecom Assets to Free-Up Critical Staging Facility Space

In February of 2007, ATNI received a frantic call from a client that needed to better utilize their staging warehouse space because they were moving forward with a major network equipment upgrade, were receiving the new equipment at this particular facility, and didn’t have room for it because of their space-consuming excess legacy gear.  They sent us a thirty-one page spreadsheet detailing the manufacturers, part numbers and quantities of 15,314 items we were to find and remove from 1,178 pallets, place on new pallets, shrink-wrap and remove from this 50,000 square-foot building.

The materials consisted of telecom, networking and power generation equipment manufactured by Alcatel-Lucent, Nortel, ADC, Marconi, Cisco, Juniper, Tellabs and many others.  The new pallets were loaded onto 53’ trailers (over 300 pallets and cabinets, double-stacked into 7 trailers) and shipped to our facility in Denver within ten days of starting the project.

An audit was conducted at our facility in which we scanned manufacturer, quantity, part number, description, CLEI code (when applicable) and serial number into our database system synced with the Telcordia™ telecom database to create a detailed Inventory Report with the pallet location of each item.

Results

ATNI freed-up the space in their warehouse, sold the equipment and provided the client monthly updated Inventory Reports with payment for their portion of the proceeds, completing the entire project in less than 6 months.
