Technician Level IV
Summary
- Job Title: Technician Level IV
- Purpose: Supervises and performs telecommunications installation and de-installation projects.
- Location: Nationwide

Responsibilities
- Crew Supervision
- Manages a crew of technicians and laborers.
- Ensures compliance with safety procedures.
- Ensures thorough, timely completion of assigned projects.
- Follows all company policies, procedures, and guidelines at all times throughout project duration.
- Trains and mentors apprentice technicians.
- Technical Work
- Fulfills project plan for the installation, de-installation, maintenance and project support for voice, data and telecommunications transport networks.
- Performs site visits and signs off on method of procedure (MOP) and in accordance with Telcordia GR1275 and Telcordia GR1502 installation standards and procedures.
- Project Management Communications
- Provides daily status updates to project manager.
- Identifies, documents, and escalates issues to project manager.
- Collects receipts, tracks expenses and submits weekly expense report.
- Completes customer-related paperwork for on-site access.
- Quality
- Tracks key performance indicators for assigned work area.
- Updates work checklists with current best practices.
- Participates in ATNI’s quality program by recommending and assisting with process improvements.
- Represents ATNI in a positive light.
- Other Duties as Required
- Maintains neat, clean, safe work area.
- Accomplishes additional ATNI business as necessary, including inventory, equipment testing, site evaluation, new customer relations, warehouse labor, training and equipment transportation.

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Formal technical training in the telecommunications field
Experience
- 10 years of hands-on experience installing and de-installing network telecommunications equipment.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of wiring, power, and telecommunication services and equipment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in variety of telecommunications systems and environments, as spot-checked on site.
- Understanding of the various topologies, e.g. telecommunications, wireless, data and voice networks and how they interface with each other.
- Knowledge of installation tools and safety.
- Ability to logically troubleshoot and repair hardware and software associated with voice systems, data networks, telecommunications systems and ancillary equipment.
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment.
- Knowledge of voice and data wireless systems and troubleshooting techniques.
- Knowledge of data communications and switch networks.
- Ability to provide good customer service.
- Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills for troubleshooting and verifying connections.
- Ability to work in live central offices, outside plant locations, on ladders, and roofs.

Physical Work Environment
- Work environment primarily includes client central office sites.
- Must be able to walk, crawl, kneel, stoop, climb ladders, read technical drawings, lift, carry, and pull heavy objects, use hand tools, use various types of telecommunication instrumentation devices, work in extreme weather conditions, work in dirty locations, and work in enclosed areas.
